Hey, Mike, you stay here. When you wake up, come back into town. I’ll be waiting for you. (2014)
Calling cards

‘Hey, Mike…’ is a work made for the exhibition ‘Museum for an Imagined City’ at SOIL Gallery, Seattle, which ran from 3 – 31 January 2015. The work imagines the continued life of River Phoenix’s character Mike from the Gus Van Sant film My Own Private Idaho (1991), partly set in Seattle, and proposes Mike’s return to the city. The telephone number is for a public phone at the St Regis Hotel on Stewart Street, where Mike is seen hustling at the start of the film.
