The Drouth (2015)
In May 2015 I was the guest artist for the 51st issue of The Drouth, Scotland’s Arts and Politics Quarterly. The magazine had the theme ‘The North’, and so I created a ‘cover girl’ image representing glamour in the North of England, but suggested by names of glamorous bands from the North rather than a girl with a more traditional pin-up look. As well as the cover, I also contributed an article, ‘All Glamour is Political’, examining intersectional glamour, queer and political identities in the North of England.
The issues is available on The Drouth’s website here.
Thanks to cover girl Jen Sykes and photographer Dave McAleavy, whose work you can see here.
